Position: Buyer

Position Objective:

The job objective is to procure raw materials, components or various supplies utilized in the manufacturing of the finished goods produced at Florida Supplement. In addition, materials should be sourced and procured from the most appropriate vendors, balancing cost and quality. 

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Purchasing of raw materials, components and/or related manufacturing supplies.
• Sourcing raw materials, components and/or related manufacturing supplies to obtain lowest cost while maintaining quality standards.
• Negotiating with vendors to obtain favorable pricing that will enhance the company's margins.
• Maintaining positive working/partner relationships with vendors.
• Sourcing new and alternate vendors.
• Effectively manage the inventory levels for the commodities responsible for.
• Follow up with vendors to assure materials are shipped on time, as confirmed, and according to the instructions given.
• Keeps informed of economic, industrial, and other trends that affect markets, prices, and delivery conditions.
• Support team in troubleshooting issues with purchasing, receiving, and/or payment.
• Provide purchasing team oversight support for Purchasing Management.
• Support management in developing and establishing purchasing policies and procedures.
• Maintain all records both physical files and electronic files.
• Follows established procedures including standard operating procedures (SOP’s), cGMP, food safety regulations, and safety procedures.
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous Related Experience Required:

3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment. Nutraceutical or Pharmaceutical preferred but not required.

Technical Skills Required:

Ability to use Microsoft Office programs, MRP software systems (e.g. AS400). Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats. Proficient in the use of calculations for ordering increment and costs.

Education:

Minimum educational requirement AA degree. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in the field will be considered in lieu of upper education.
