Position Overview:

The Amare Collegiate Recovery Specialist plays a crucial role in identifying and supporting individuals who are struggling with substance use disorders or co-occurring disorders within the SIUE campus. This full-time position, working closely with the Amare team, involves outreach, education, emotional support, and connection to resources to aid in the recovery journey. The role emphasizes the importance of recovery, practicing recovery principles in day-to-day and collegiate life and will work closely with students of the SIUE CPRS/CRSS program.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engagement and Support:

- Engage SIUE student participants in their non-clinical recovery support goals.

- Provide emotional support by sharing lived experiences.

- Assist participants in developing recovery support through various pathways.

- Educate participants on effective decision-making techniques.

- Meet with students at SIUE and other colleges who may need recovery support services.

- Completed the SIUE CPRS/CRSS program preferred by not required.

2. Assessment and Planning:

- Conduct regular assessments (e.g., BARC10, Engagement Scales) as required.

- Collaboratively develop a recovery management plan with participants to enhance their recovery capital.

3.Resource Linkage:

- Link participants to community resources that promote their overall health and wellness.

- Connect individuals to non-clinical recovery support services if necessary, including residential treatment, detox, and crisis intervention.

- Provide transportation for participants when appropriate and approved by the supervisor.

4. Telehealth Support:

- Offer telehealth recovery support to participants facing transportation barriers.

5. Community Engagement:

- Work closely with the Amare team and Recovery Manager to develop relationships with community stakeholders.

- Attend community meetings, including ROSC Council and other committee meetings.

- Build a visible presence for Amare's services within the collegiate community.

6. Recovery Support Services Delivery:

- Deliver 20% of services directly to support recovery.

7. Collaboration and Training:

- Collaborate with team members to ensure coordinated care and support.

- Present and conduct training when assigned.

- Develop and deliver training to students and faculty on recovery support services and current treatment and recovery trends.

8. Respect and Professionalism:

- Treat all participants with respect and professionalism, regardless of their religious/nonreligious beliefs, sexual orientation, race, or gender.

9. Data Management:

- Maintain minimal data collection and weekly reporting requirements.

10. Certification:

- Commit to pursuing the Illinois Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification within two years of employment or maintain the current (CPRS) certification.

11. Other Duties:

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Experience in recovery coaching or peer support preferred.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Knowledge of community resources and services in Madison County and surrounding areas.

- Commitment to pursuing CPRS certification within two years of employment if necessary.

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation and willing to travel between SIUE (Student Success Center) and Amares home office (Wood River, IL).

Working Conditions:

- Full-time position.

- Must have a reliable vehicle.

- Travel as needed.

- Must have your own cell phone and cellular service. Amare will partially reimburse your bill.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
