Position Summary

Christ Church of India is seeking a dedicated and spiritually mature individual to serve as our Pastor. This individual will provide spiritual leadership to our congregation, preaching sermons, leading worship services, providing pastoral care, and fostering the spiritual growth of our community. This individual should have experience working with small to mid-sized Asian Indian congregations, as we continue to nurture and grow our diverse community of faith.

The responsibility of the Pastor is to glorify God by providing Biblical leadership through focusing on God’s Word and prayer, shepherding the Body of Christ, and equipping the saints to do the work of ministry (Acts 6, 1 Peter 5, Ephesians 4).

Primary Responsibilities

• Functioning as a leader of the church, lead and inspire the congregation through weekly preaching and teaching, with an emphasis on spiritual growth and biblical understanding;
• Equip the congregation for mission and evangelism
• Guide worship services, providing a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for congregants to connect with God and one another
• Responsible for the direction of worship at all services in accordance with the doctrinal stand of the church and preaching/teaching ministry of the church
• Sets the preaching schedule in accordance with Titus 2 and Acts 20:28 and in accordance with primary ministry objectives
• Offer pastoral care through counseling, visitation, and support for individuals and families in times of need
• Collaborate with church leadership and staff to develop and implement ministry strategies that align with the church’s mission and vision
• Provide mentorship and spiritual guidance to leaders within the congregation, fostering a culture of discipleship and community
• Uphold and nurture the spiritual integrity of the church, ensuring that its ministries and activities align with biblical principles
• Lead and direct all paid and volunteer staff and supports the church’s programs for all age groups
• Meet regularly with church paid and volunteer staff and board to ensure that the church is in a good state and serving as pastoral leaders in all committees
• Maintain a good relationship with the board, regularly reporting the current state of the congregation and church to the board during board meetings
• Officiate baptisms (both infant and adult baptism), communion, confirmations, wedding, and funerals.
• Oversee and encourage coordinated prayer gatherings and is responsible for visitation of members and visitors
• Represents Christ Church of India in local events and ministerial relationships.
• All other duties as needed to successfully fulfill responsibilities of the role

Qualifications:

Personal:

• A clear testimony of saving faith in Jesus Christ as
  Demonstrated qualities of leadership and character as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1 – 7; Titus 1:6 – 9; and 1 Peter 5:2 – 4.
• A Christ-like attitude of humility and servant leadership
• A lifestyle demonstrating consistent spiritual and moral characteristics that are in harmony with the Scriptures
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-based ministry
• Agreement with the Statement of Faith and core values at Christ Church of India
• Commitment to personal and spiritual growth, accountability, and ethical behavior to members of the ministry, Board, and community
• Unwavering ability to be respectful and discerning of confidentiality and privacy

Professional:

• Fluency in English required

• License or Ordination Credentials is desired

• Master of Divinity (M. Div.) Degree or higher from an accredited evangelical seminary required

• International Exposure is desired

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in pastoral ministry or equivalent, preferably with small to mid-sized congregations, with an emphasis on Asian Indian communities

• Evidence of the pursuit of ongoing professional growth through continuing professional development and education opportunities

• Commitment to the vision and doctrine of the Church or willingness to align with the church’s core beliefs

• Legally authorized to work in the United States or eligible for sponsorship.

• Successful completion of a background check and ability to provide references upon request
